4 year Old Wandering Toddler Found Safe

Posted: Updated:

I think Steve Edwards put it best on FOX11 News at Noon when he said "all you parents know the feeling when a toddler wakes you up at an unGodly hour everyone knows what it feels like to be awakened by a toddler. Happened to a guy in West Hills last night, but he doesn't have a toddler and the cries were coming from outside the house."

It was around 2am when Jeff and Courtney Rios were awaked by the sounds of "blood curdling screams" that's right "blood curdling." The boy was only wearing a red tee shirt. No pants or underwear. He's apparently autistic, according to his mom, and doesn't talk. Courtney and Jeff says he wouldn't talk. Just shreek! But, they were able to calm him down. They called police who called the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.

I've talked with the 4 year old's mom off and on today and she is terrified she may not get her son back.

Why did he wander away in the middle of the night. She says he's rambunctious and has a hard time sleeping as does his older brother who is 11. Mom theorizes the older brother, as he usually does, opened the window a little for fresh air and that kid brother opened and crawled out the window.

The question, though, is will DCFS social workers think it was just a kid slipping away or something more serious. We will have to wait to see.
