Lunchtime dancing at Culture Club

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Wednesday at 1 p.m.: People are shaking up the workday routine at dance parties called Lunch Beat.

Sarah Reynolds and Isha Toor are the organizers of New York City's Lunch Beat. The concept originated in Sweden three years ago. The second Manhattan event took place at the Culture Club on Wednesday.

A $14 admission ticket buys lunch and 60 minutes of nonstop hits. Cocktails are optional.

The participants say there is something kind of exhilarating about putting the BlackBerry away or, in my case, turning the mic off and getting down.

Just like on a Saturday night, there's a velvet rope outside and a killer DJ inside. But this party won't go all night. In fact, it ends abruptly at 1:30 p.m. Then it is off the dance floor and back to the cubicle for the attendees.

If you're bummed you missed out, don't worry. Lunch Beats plans to hold these events at different venues every month.
