Neshaminy Creek Search And Recovery For Two Young Men

Posted: Updated:
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

The water pushed him to the bottom of the creek. He was exhausted but decided to try and push up one more time. After struggling to get out of the rushing, swirling water, he didn't see his friends.

The Neshaminy Creek is about five or six feet deep, but the surge of rain from Monday night has the waters more aggressive than usual.

According to the mom of the 17-year-old, he and his friends, 18-year-old Dan Tadrzynski and 18-year-old Perry Krewson left her home for a swim in the swollen Neshaminy Creek around 10 p.m. By 10:30 p.m., the 17-year-old called 911. He was the only one who made it out.

"Have had a lot of rain the last few days. It's extremely rough waters," says Fred Harran, the Director of Public Safety for Bensalem Township.

Dive teams from Philly, Upper Southampton and Northampton scoured a 15 mile area from the Neshaminy Creek to the Delaware River. Pennsylvania and New Jersey State police along with the Coast Guard joined the search too. They even brought in blood hounds to search the banks after one teen's cell phone was tracked to Newport Park.

"They could have gotten out of the water and they're on the banks of the creek laying there unconscious. We're checking anything we can," says Fred Harran.

At this point authorities are not calling it a search and rescue; it's now a recovery. The recovery efforts will continue this evening and resume during the daylight hours. But public safety says that there were rumors last night that the boys made it out, and if there's a one percent chance they could find these kids, then they're going to take it.

Both Dan and Perry just graduated from Bensalem High School. Perry had enlisted as a marine.
