Pasco County animal services will be reopening dog adoptions on Saturday after being closed for a month due to several dogs becoming sick.
Eight dogs tested positive for Canine Parvovirus, which is highly contagious. The dogs tested positive between June 26 and July 6.
Animal services closed dog adoptions while they treated them and took precautionary measures to make sure it didn't spread.
"We are excited about the reopening of our dog adoptions and are grateful to our dedicated staff and volunteers who have worked diligently during this challenging time," said Dr. Suzanne Salichs, assistant county administrator for public services, in a statement.
Animal services will hold adoptions of dogs and cats at 19640 Dogpatch Lane in Land O' Lakes from noon to 5:00 p.m.
"We have dozens of amazing dogs and cats that are ready to go to their forever homes," Salichs said.
All the animals can be adopted for free.
