Pinellas County detectives are currently investigating a homicide at the Pinellas County Jail.

According to deputies, at approximately 12:58 a.m. Sunday, detention deputies responded to a call of a man down in the South Division of the jail. When deputies arrived, they found 48-year-old Kelly Damon Harding unconscious on the floor of his cell. Harding was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Emergency personnel said they found wet toilet paper down Harding's throat, and determined his injuries were consistent with having been strangled.

The suspect is identified as Harding's cell mate, 28-year-old Scott Alexander Greenberg.

Greenberg remains in an isolation cell at the jail. He is charged with first degree murder.
