TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The suspect in the Family Dollar murder in Tampa has been arrested.

According to Tampa Police and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Demetrius Parks was arrested in Orlando.

Investigators say Parks entered the Family Dollar store at 4900 N. 40th Street in Tampa last Sunday, and demanded money from the clerk.

Police say Shorter Jr., a 26 year army veteran, was sitting in his office at the store, saw the robbery taking place and ran to help his co-worker when he was shot.

There was a $16,000 reward leading to Parks arrest and police put up 30 digital billboards with his picture around Tampa.

Investigators are only saying a tip led them to Parks.
