Girl, 11, Critical After Being Struck Biking Across Boulevard

PHILADELPHIA -

An 11-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon while riding her bicycle across the Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police said the incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. at U.S. Route 1 and Garland Street in the Lawncrest section of the city.

According to police, the girl crossed the southbound inner lanes against a light and was struck by a black 2003 Cadillac Escalade.

The girl was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she was listed in critical condition Thursday night. Police reported that she had head trauma and a possibly broken right arm.

The vehicle that struck the girl stayed at the scene.
