Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a crash that killed a mother and three of her four children on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Ahmen Holloman, 30, and Khusen Akhmedov, 23,  were arrested on Wednesday.

Akhmedov and Holloman are charged with four counts of homicide by vehicle, third-degree murder, and involuntary manslaughter.

They are also charged with five counts of recklessly endangering another person, one count of aggravated assault, simple assault, and aggravated assault by vehicle.

Investigators say the two men were street racing late Tuesday night when Akhmedov hit the family.

Samara Selina Banks and her sons were crossing the street at Second Avenue in Feltonville. Banks, 28, and her 23-month-old son were pronounced on the scene. Her other son, 9-month-old Saamir Williams, was pronounced at Albert Einstein Hospital. Another son who was 4-years-old was transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and pronounced dead Wednesday morning. Her fourth son, a 5-year-old, remains at Einstein with bumps and bruises.

Both drivers stopped at the scene, police said.

Also helping the investigation were the witnesses who saw what happened leading up to the wreck and stopped to render first aid and provide statements afterward.

"There were 9 people – I've got to commend all of the witnesses and civilians that stopped and helped the police, who gave us statements to substantiate the fact that they were drag racing and speeding that led to this crash," Capt. John Wilczynski, of the police department's Accident Investigation Division.

Police also said Akhmedov was out on bail in an ambulance fraud case, and he has eight prior tickets for speeding and red light violations. His license had been previously suspended but was restored in 2011.
