Group helps veterans with grants

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

We owe so much to our veterans who sacrifice so much for our freedom. In this segment of What's Right with Tampa Bay, we are celebrating a wonderful organization that gives grants to veterans who have served in Afghanistan or Iraq. There are no fees, no interest and no paybacks required.

The program is called Veterans Pathway.

Bill Puopolo has been through so much, but is excited about the future. His small business, Verissimo Global, just received a grant from Veterans Pathway.

"The grant they gave me was $30,000," Bill said.

It's money that Bill won't have to repay, no fees, no interest. He can just invest it all into his technology and communications business. It's given him amazing peace of mind.

"So now I have that weight off my shoulders so that I can focus actually going out there and getting the contracts and hiring veterans," Bill said.

But "Veterans Pathway" hasn't just provided Verissimo Global with money -- they are also giving support.

"More importantly they gave me support network, they let me know that I'm not the only one," Bill said.

"Veterans Pathway" has been around a year and already given away $120,000 to small businesses that are run by veterans.

"It's not only a benefit to veterans, it will benefit the country," Bill said "it will benefit companies that hire veterans."

What a wonderful way to say thank you for protecting our freedom.
