A Plant City man is under arrest, charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a minor child.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, 25-year-old Joseph Gerald Mendolia engaged in sexual activity with a minor in March of 2013.

Investigators say Mendolia traveled to St. Petersburg to have sex with the minor after posing as a female named "Amanda" on a web chat.

Mendolia is the director of the Plant City Community Chorus and worked as a camp counselor in a USF music program, according to a media release from the FDLE.

Mendolia is charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

Investigators say if anyone has children or knows of any children who may have come in contact with Mendolia, please contact FDLE Special Agent Al Danna at (813) 878-7384 or St. Petersburg Police Detective Kenny Sharp at (727) 893-4297.

FOX 13's Deborah Bowden will have the latest information as it becomes available.
