Bring up the name Trader Joe's, and people have a lot to say.
"People are talking it up, saying in this location it would be wonderful," said Martha Leonard.
Leonard has never been to a Trader Joe's, but others in the area have.
"It is a great place to go and shop. It's an entertaining kind of place," said Janet Tucker.
After a lot of great hopes, and false starts, the rumors of a Trader Joe's coming to Tampa finally seem true.
"Well if I told you I'd have to kill you, but it sure looks like its a Trader Joe's. I'm very excited and I think a lot of people are excited," joked Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
American Centennial Properties just filed paper work to build a Trader Joe's on Swann Avenue. The Shapes Fitness Center would be torn down.
They are also requesting a sign variance because so many people are drawn to Trader Joe's. But many homeowners in Tampa don't worry about the traffic. Some even welcome it.
"I'll probably we walking over there, so it won't be so bad," said Mallory Getreu.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn said the city will work to make sure residents are happy with the new building.
"We're going to do the best we can to mitigate the traffic effects in the neighborhood, but I think its a huge jolt for South Tampa and Tampa," he said.
Trader Joe's won't comment. But this is about as official as it gets, and it has the Mayor's seal of approval.
"All of these things contribute to the local economy they generate sales tax. It's all good, it's really good. Tampa has got its swagger back and we're on the move," Buckhorn said.
