If you live in Polk County, your neighbors could be the country's newest reality stars.
Rusty and Julie Bulloch and their two kids live in Lakeland, and just got their own reality show on the UP network. It's called the "The Bulloch Family Ranch."
"You go through life, living your life, then one day, all of a sudden, a crew is out there filming, so it's a little bit shocking," Rusty said.
If the idea of getting your own show isn't shocking enough, being involved in the shooting may be even more so. More than a dozen people, including a director, producers, camera and sound people, followed the Bullochs around town to get the first season in the can.
"It was very different to get adjusted to waking up with a camera there, walking around to a camera there. Everytime you turn around there's a camera there," said the couple's adult son, Brodie.
Brodie's sister, Amanda had an even harder time. She had to juggle her nearly 3-year-old daughter, husband, home, job and the production schedule.
"I went on very little sleep for months," Amanda remembered.
Unlike many reality shows out there that are hyped, the network says this one is based on the Bulloch's real lives and what they consider important: family, faith, love and hard work.
Over the years, the couple has parented more than 25 teens who were struggling. Some had a hard time talking with their own parents. Others had financial problems. Many needed a place to stay, so the Bullochs took them in.
"There were times when we would say, ‘we can't do this,' " said Julie. "At the end of the month, the money was gone and we still had to eat, but God provided."
The "Bulloch Family Ranch" premiers on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 p.m. on UP.
