Military working on F-35 technology in Pinellas

Some of the most powerful military technology in existence is being built and shown off right here in the Bay area.

The F-35, the world's most advanced military aircraft, is getting a canopy built for it by the Lockheed Martin facility in Pinellas County. As the operations expand, the facility is expected to employ about 200 people.

Congressman Bill Young, R-Fla, attended the cockpit demonstrator event on July 15 at the Lockheed Martin facility. The demonstrator simulated the F-35's advanced technologies and combat capabilities.

For more than a decade, the U.S. and its allies have invested in developing this 5th generation, international, multi-role fighter aircraft; it has a big role in protecting our national security,

Military experts believe it will serve as a cornerstone of global security in the 21st century.
