TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Tampa police officers helped rescue a 4-foot python Friday from the intersection of Bearss and Florida.

It appears that the snake had been run over, and police said they were taking it to a nearby vet.

Police say they got a call about the python about 8:30 a.m. We spoke to the vet, and it looks as if the snake will not live through the ordeal.

However, police released an image showing an officer holding the snake.
