Officers rescue duckling in distress

Posted: Updated:

Thanks to help from some Sarasota police officers and city workers, a baby duckling is alive and safe.

A passerby on U.S. 41 flagged down two officers after they saw a duckling fall into a storm drain. It had become separated from its mother while trying to cross at Wisteria.

The officers got some help from local firefighters and city employees, and they pried open the drain.

The duckling was removed from the drain unharmed, police said.
