County drops charges against Tampa man in abduction case

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office is dropping its charges against Tony McLeod, the man accused of seducing a 14-year-old California boy to Tampa.

Investigators accuse McLeod of using a Playstation game to lure the boy to the Bay area, where he was arrested.

However, it was determined that because the rendezvous happened in California, that's where the prosecution should proceed.

McLeod faces charges in California for child abduction, meeting a minor to commit a sex offense and enticing a minor.

He waived his right to challenge his extradition.
