Family wants answers after attack at Pinellas Park apartment complex

PINELLAS PARK (FOX 13) -

The family of a maintenance man who was nearly beaten to death is pleading for anyone who saw the attack to come forward.

It happened April 15 at the Lauren Manor Apartments in Pinellas Park.

Someone hit Donald McPherson in the head with something heavy, possibly a hammer. His attacker still hasn't been found. Now, detectives are going door-to-door talking to people who live at the apartment complex.

They are hoping to get new leads – and so is McPherson's son.

"If he needed help or needed money or whatever it may be, my dad was the kind of person who would be glad to help," Bruce McPherson said. "But instead he left there lying in his own blood to die, so this person needs to pay the price."

The family said McPherson will likely never fully recover from his injuries. If you have any information, contact the Pinellas Park Police Department.
