A 19-year-old Plant City man was killed Tuesday night in a single-vehicle crash, and his mother was the driver.
Sheriff's deputies say speed was the ultimate factor in the accident. Around 10:30 p.m., Brenda White, 37, rolled her 1998 Chevy pickup on Swindell Road in Lakeland.
A witness said they saw the vehicle try to make a turn at a high-rate of speed.
Her son, Travis Kinkade, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck, deputies said.
Another passenger, 19-year-old Dustin Johnson, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
White also suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Impairment does not appear to be a factor, the sheriff's office said. The investigation continues Wednesday.
