A small tornado touchdown in Pinellas County on Monday night left some damage in the area.
Severe storms formed in Tampa Bay and moved west over Pinellas County, and some areas are cleaning up Tuesday morning.
Around 8:20, Doppler radar indicated a tornado near Weedon Island, just to the east of Pinellas Park. It touched down near the Gandy Bridge, and a lot of people saw it.
Not too far away, strong winds were reported and there were damage reports near 4th Street North and 87th Avenue. A tree was shredded and a family's lanai was torn up. Chairs and tables were thrown around and part of a dock was torn off.
"I got an alert on my iPhone," Al Martino said. "I got them all on time and shut the front doors. Then I got in the bathroom and hear all this noise, and 30 seconds later it was done – less than that probably."
Pictures and video from around the area confirmed there was a funnel cloud and a brief tornado touchdown.
The storms continued to move across Pinellas County and caused some minor damage. It seems to be limited to just a few homes.
FOX 13's April Kellogg contributed to this report.
