NORRISTOWN, Pa. -

Upper Dublin Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney announced Friday that child rape suspect Harold Eugene Smith has been captured and returned to the United States.

He was located in Costa Rica after an American citizen discovered him in Panama.

In October 2012, the Montgomery County Detective Bureau received the tip, after the American citizen reported he was searching for gold in a jungle-like area.

A federal arrest warrant was issued, and finally law enforcement from Fort Washington took custody of Smith and returned him to Montgomery County.

Smith, 60, had his bail was revoked at a hearing Friday. He is now forced to await trial.

The Upper Dublin Police charged him with the rape of a child on Sept. 15, 2010.
