Patients Remember Slain Doctor

Posted: Updated:
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -

Doctor Michelle Liggio was a very popular Pensauken doctor. Tonight she's a murder victim. Police say her husband shot her inside her office before turning the gun on himself.

A memorial has started outside Dr. Liggio's office where the afternoon shooting took place.

Patients of Doctor Michelle Liggio arrived for their afternoon appointments only to find their doctor's office has become a murder scene.

"Senseless. Senseless. She's such a beautiful woman so kind..such a nice lady," said Frank Wolf, a patient.

Investigators say 58 year old Christopher Liggio opened fire on his wife after a short disturbance inside the office. He then turned the gun on himself.

No patients were inside the office, only staff who heard the gunshots.

"My family goes there."

Cindy Fulton has been a patient of Dr. Liggio for 10 years.

She arrived as Pensauken Police swarmed the Maple Avenue Office.

"She's great..she's great. She takes good care of me. I'm just a little nervous right now."

Neighbors in the Liggio's well manicured Mt. Laurel Neighborhood were beside themselves to hear the news.

"It's just really shocking to hear this..." said one neighbor.

Police stood post outside the family home where the couple had 2 children. People who knew them say Doctor Liggio had just filed for divorce.

"Shocking."

Denise Dadamo used to be Doctor Liggio's patient. And Christopher Liggio used to landscape their lawn.

"Just very sad that someone would take their wife's life and then their own and I think they were very nice neighbors."

Detectives were in and out of the Liggio's home all afternoon. As employees try to piece together a tragic afternoon.
