Suspected Prowler Strikes Again In Burlington Co. Community

Posted: Updated:
LUMBERTON, N.J. -

"Very creepy" is the way neighbors are describing the most recent incidents involving a suspected prowler in Lumberton who has struck three times in the last couple of months.

"I keep the door locked, I've always kept it locked," Pam Costello told Fox 29. "I'm always looking around and stuff. "

"There has to be something wrong with this person. I feel we need to catch him and get him or her the help they need," said Sandy Clevenger, who has lived here for 30 years.

A prowler struck twice in Mark Baker's Country Village community, including last Wednesday on Village Drive. Baker keeps his doors, windows and garage locked at night, so the suspect can't slip in.

"We're well aware of the area and if we see somebody strange we'll call the police and let them know," Baker said.

"An individual awoke to an individual in their room and then that suspect left," explained Lumberton Police Lt. Ed Begolly.

Lumberton police have been working round the clock to find the suspect. They believe these three creepy crimes could be related.

"We're investigating the incidents to be similar in nature," Lt. Begolly told Fox 29.

Police have put out alerts to residents through their new crime alert system. They're urging anyone who sees something suspicious to say something, immediately.

"We want that phone call so our guys can respond," Begolly said.

He also had some advice for neighbors while the so called prowler is on the loose.

"Make sure the doors and windows are locked," he said. "And if you see a neighbor that has an open door, or open garage door we're asking them to be that good neighbor and make a contact.

Police will not comment on specific details about the most recent prowler incident. They are urging residents to sign up for the new crime alert system on the police department's web site. They're urging anyone who sees something suspicious to say something, immediately.
