TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Investigators say five people were able to escape a house fire in Tampa.

It broke out at a two-story wood home at 1023 East 19th Avenue, and Tampa Fire and Rescue officials say a family of three helped alert two others living inside.

An adult man and a 3-year-old girl woke up first, noticing smoke inside the house. They got up and ran screaming out of the home.

There were no smoke detectors working inside.

The family got out OK just as the blaze was spreading, as did two other adults living in the house.

The family of three was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening smoke injuries.

It appears it was an electrical fire, though fire and rescue will continue to investigate Wednesday morning.

The total estimated damage is $35,000.
