SUWANEE, Ga. -

An armed robber, two police chases, two arrests -- it was a busy first day for Suwanee Police Department's new captain.

The first call on Shane Edmisten's inaugural day as police captain was an armed robbery.

Just before noon, police say Jacquelyn Tran walked into a Quiznos restaurant with a gun and a note demanding money. She got away and a high-speed chase ensued. It lasted 14 miles with everyone from the Suwanee Police Department trying to stop her.

"Everyone that was actively at work and working, they were out, involved in some form or fashion," Edmisten said.

The chase finally ended in a parking lot, when police say the woman just gave up.

Hours later, the police force got another call. This time, it was about a suspicious person with a knife in a subdivision.

Police say it turned out to be Daniel Cleary, a man who was arrested back in December after abducting his two young boys and taking them to Texas.  During the chase, Cleary called 911 and threatened to commit suicide.

Cleary was eventually captured and charged with reckless driving, aggravated stalking and DUI.

Through what was one of the busiest days in the Suwanee Police Department's history, Capt. Edmisten was thankful no one was hurt.
