People in Bloomingdale are still standing strong this morning in their fight against a big box store.
More than 400 people attended a meeting with Hillsborough County Commissioner Al Higginbotham.
They criticized the proposed development on Bloomingdale Avenue. That development would include many retail businesses and apartments.
In addition to saying they do not want a big box store, many consider it a safety issue. They say it would bring too much traffic into an already congested area near the school.
Many opponents say they are not against the development in general, just this specific project. They are asking to sit down with the developer and the county to plan out what should go on the land instead.
