Chiesa Replaces Lautenberg

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, D.C. -

Jeffrey Chiesa was sworn in this afternoon by Vice President Joe Biden. Chiesa replaces Senator Frank Lautenberg who died last week.

It's only temporary for Chiesa though. He will fill the seat for New Jersey until the special election in October.

Four Democrats and two Republicans have thrown their hats in the ring for that Senate seat.

FOX 29 was there as New Jersey Representative Frank Pallone and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan filed their petitions to run.

Newark mayor Cory Booker will also run.

Sen. Chiesa was joined at the swearing in by his wife Jenny Chiesa, his children Al and Hannah, and members of his extended family.
