A road-rage incident turned deadly in Maryland over the weekend. And police say a New Jersey officer was the one who pulled the trigger.

It happened on Interstate 97, just outside of Baltimore, Md.

According to police, two men pulled over after getting into a fight on the highway.

After one man got out of his car and approached 40-year-old Joseph Walker's minivan. Walker opened fire, killing the man.

Neighbors of the victim can't believe he would get into such an altercation.

According to one neighbor, "He was very excited; very good person...When we heard this news it was really sad for us."

Walker, an officer with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office who lives in Burlington County, is charged with second degree murder, and manslaughter.

Police say Walker's wife and three young children were in the minivan and saw him pull the trigger.

On Monday, a lawyer for Walker said the detective's family was threatened by the other motorist.
