MONROE, La. (AP) - The University of Louisiana at Monroe is using video conference interviews to narrow a field of about 40 candidates for athletic director.

Search committee chair Scott McDonald tells The News-Star that the interviews by Skype were to begin Sunday and continue through Monday. On-campus interviews will begin June 17.

Applicants include former ULM football coach Charlie Weatherbie and former Northeast Louisiana football coach Pat Collins. Others with ties to the university are former director of football operations Josh Brooks and Dan O'Dowd, who spent three years with Louisiana-Monroe's athletic foundation.

Weatherbie now works for a church in Orlando, Fla. Collins is a consultant for ULM. Brooks is an associate athletic director at Georgia. O'Dowd is an assistant athletic director at Mississippi.
