The crash sounded like thunder, a real jolt as a 59-year-old woman loses control, slamming into the Delaney Creek Lodge assisted living center in Brandon.
"The car was literally in the wall, it looked like something out of a movie," said Sue Smith, the executive director.
It was a woman's apartment unit. She was inside watching TV when that car came barreling into her room.
"The car literally came through her TV set so it missed her by a couple feet," Smith said.
A lucky break, inches separating life and death. It is unclear why the woman crossed two lanes of traffic then crashed, but Smith believes it may have been a medical condition.
The driver was taken to Brandon Regional get checked out.
"I think it was fortunate every which way no one was killed, no one injured," Smith said.
"We prepare for all kinds of emergencies but I have to admit this is one I hadn't thought of," Smith added.
A couple rooms now need some serious work, it'll take a few weeks before they're livable again. A blue tarp covers the gaping hole, a reminder of the scary moments in this normally quiet spot.
