Grand Jury To Look Into Paralegal's Death At Attorney's Home

PHILADELPHIA -

FOX 29 News has confirmed with the Philadelphia District Attorney's office that an investigating grand jury will be convened to look into the death of a paralegal at a prominent local attorney's home.

Julia Law, the 26-year-old girlfriend of Charles Peruto Jr., was found dead in the bathtub of his Rittenhouse Square residence on May 25.

Investigators tell FOX 29 that toxicology reports are in, and Law's blood-alcohol level was dangerously high – more than five times the legal limit for driving.

Police confirm Peruto was at the Jersey Shore at the time of her death.

Detectives appeared to have ruled out homicide in the death. Sources say there were no signs of trauma to her body.

Investigators did find a bottle of pills in the home with Law's name.

Peruto, when approached the next week, told FOX 29 he was too upset to talk about Law's death or the ongoing investigation.

No one at Peruto's office, where Law worked, would comment either.

According to a newspaper report, Law's family asked Peruto and other members of the law firm not to attend the funeral.
