It was slow going for much of the day inside the Shore Acres community.
Cars and trucks made waves as they ventured through the soaked streets.
A few cars didn't fare so well, including Julia Halls'. Her SUV got stuck.
"It is pretty rough when its your only vehicle and you don't want it to get ruined by the salt water," Hall said.
While Shore Acres is known for flooding, the rising waters were enough for James French to start laying out sandbags.
He had hoped they would keep any water from getting inside.
French is new to Florida and it's wild weather.
"I kind of want to go back up north," French joked.
Fortunately, he and most other homeowners survived without major issues.
By the evening, the waters were already beginning to recede.
This storm though, was enough to raise a few eyebrows and remind folks, hurricane season is here.
"Put your water shoes on because there's more to come," Julia Hall said.
