A Clearwater woman who had dozens of animals in her home has been charged with illegally killing, possessing or capturing an alligator.
A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report says 43-year-old Julie Linh Vu was arrested Monday. She has since been released from jail after posting bail. It's not immediately known if she has an attorney.
Authorities confiscated 22 birds, 21 turtles and a pot-bellied pig from her home in January. Police said the animals were kept in unsanitary conditions without proper access to water. The alligator was found in a cage while the turtles lived in a swimming pool.
Investigators turned over the case to prosecutors who filed the felony charge against Vu. Her husband has not been charged. The couple also violated city ordinances.
