Surveillance footage captures break-in at car wash

Posted: Updated:
BUFORD, Ga. -

A car wash owner hopes that surveillance footage will help catch the person who broke into his Buford business.

Ralph Black said that he has 30 cameras at the Grand Slam Car Wash. Employees there say the suspect in the break-in moves like comic book character Spider-Man.

The person is seen darting behind signs and walls while working to break in the door. He ran out of the car wash with the cash register.

While the thief wore gloves and kept his face covered, Black is hoping someone might recognize the man by his strange movements and mannerisms. He also wants to make sure his neighbors and fellow business owners are on the lookout.

"We feel violated and we don't want our neighbors or potentially something even worse than a robbery to occur here. If somebody is this desperate, there's no telling what actions they may take," Black said.

The car wash is offering $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the thief. Anyone with information on the break-in is asked to call the Gwinnett Police Department (770) 513-5000.

Prosecutors considered him their key witness, a longtime Gwinnett developer given immunity to spill what he knew about corruption inside county government. David Jenkins testified before a Gwinnett grand jury in 2010. He also met multiple times with prosecutors. Those interviews were videotaped. Four years later, prosecutors agreed to a no contest plea bargain with former commissioner Kevin Kenerly on one count of bribery. He will serve 10 years on probation and pay a $10,000 fine.
