Tree destroys Douglasville family's home

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

A local woman says she's trying to rebuild her life after storms hit this past weekend and destroyed her home. Just one day later, some of her family members were in Oklahoma near where the tornado hit.

Shari and Rebecka Davis are picking up the pieces after a tree crashed through their Douglasville home on Sunday. The home is now uninhabitable.

"All of sudden, I heard a big crash of thunder and then what sounded almost like a bomb going off," said Shari Davis.

The Red Cross has put the mother and daughter up in a hotel.  But once the week is over, they say they have nowhere to go.

"It's the fact that we've moved like 18 times in the last nine years and this was finally home, so staying here, it meant everything to me. It meant everything to me and to know that my kids have a place to come to," said Shari Davis.

The week has been made more difficult because the Davis' have family near Moore, Okla., where a deadly tornado struck on Monday.

"That whole day that that tornado hit up there, that was really my concern. I was just, ‘look at them. Thank God we're alive. Thank God the only thing that happened was we lost a few things," said Shari Davis.

But now, on a limited income and with a giant whole in the house, they're not sure where to turn and what to do next.

"It's scary. It's bad because you don't where you're going to go now," said Rebecka Davis.

The Davis' said they've contacted several charities that haven't had resources to help.
