TEMPLE TERRACE (FOX 13) -

A 22-year-old man has been tracked down by police in connection with the robbing of an off-duty Polk deputy.

Damarius Antwun Matthews was taken into custody Tuesday night at an apartment complex in Temple Terrace. He is accused of robbing deputy Regina Hulverson last weekend at a Publix in Winter Haven.

Police say Matthews ran up and snatched her purse before fleeing in a silver Mazda. Hulverson's department-issued badge and .380 Ruger were inside the purse.

Police said when Matthews was arrested, he did not have the gun or credentials on him.

They are looking for anyone who may know where these are. If you have any information contact Winter Haven police at (863) 287-8214.
