Dozens Arrested In Gang Operation 'Sudden Impact'

Posted: Updated:
Montebello, CA -

(FOX 11) For two years they've been watching and waiting.

Federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, along with the Montebello Police Department, have been keeping a close eye on dozens of suspected gang members. And we're not talking just taggers here. Sources say these guys are hardcore; suspected in murders and drug deals.

On Wednesday, the feds moved in with at least 19 different locations raided simultaneously.

Operation "Sudden Impact" was on.

And FOX 11 was there, the only newscast bringing you the breaking news first as it happened live.

Dozens have been indicted and are now facing charges ranging from murder to robbery with some drug dealing in between. Guns, drugs, even an anti-tank rocket launcher were seized, according to police.

"It's good. I feel safer now"' one neighbor told me. "It's nice to see our tax dollars at work for something good."
