Man works to support injured veterans

Posted: Updated:

Rick Cicero knows there's nothing more traumatic for a military soldier than loss of limb due to combat. The injuries can lead to apathy and depression. So, he's on a mission to help vets rebound from their injuries. His passion is "What's Right With Tampa Bay."

Rick Cicero is as active today as he's ever been. Which is really amazing when you consider what Rick has been thru.

3 years ago he was in Afghanistan, working as a military contractor and a bomb exploded next to him.

" Resulted in the lost of my right leg above the knee, my right arm above the elbow, an severe damage to my left leg." said Rick

He spent months in the hospital but during that time became determined he would live life to the fullest.

" I Found out that my life is not over its just starting ."

Rick is a wonderful role model for military who've been injured. He works out everyday.

"They told me I would never run again" Said Rick "I ran a 5k in January and I run regularly ."

He now volunteers with the V.A. and the "Wounded Warriors Organization."

" I want to give back to V.A. and in the community who've done so much to get back on my feet." Said Rick

He recently organized a parachute jump for wounded troops.

"To see them rise up and feel the motivation I can still do this or I can do something that I never thought that I could be able to do." Said Rick.

And he's willing to do anything to show these guys that life is not over.

"And to see them smile and stand up a little straighter and to stand a litter taller and to stand in communication with them" Rick said "thats what it all about getting them back to really loving life and enjoying what they have."

Rick and a few of his friends hane a lot of events planed for injured vets. He has one coming up next week.
