Suspects sought in murder of Atlanta bishop's brother

Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for three men in connection with a murder earlier this week. The victim died after struggling with robbers who tried to come in his home.

Atlanta police say right now the public's response is crucial to their investigation. They hope the release of store surveillance video will help solve the case.

Police describe three men seen in the video as "persons of interest." A camera recorded them entering a store after the shooting of 47-year-old Jerrick Jackson.

Jackson died after struggling with robbers who accosted him and his fiancée outside his northwest Atlanta home.

"The reasons they are person of interest is that these individuals attempted to use the stolen debit card. It was taken from the homicide scene that belonged to Mr. Jackson's fiancée," said Major Darryl Tolleson of the Atlanta Police Department.

Tolleson said the robbers may have targeted the couple after seeing Jackson's Porsche SUV.

According to investigators, the robbers approached the victims as they left the vehicle, forcing them inside the house where the shots were fired.

Hours later, police say the men in the video tried to the woman's debit card at a store several miles away.

"They attempted to use it around 10:24 that morning, which is about nine hours after the homicide. So at this point we're asking for the public's help to contact the Atlanta Police Department's homicide unit or CrimeStoppers number," said Tolleson.

Police say they have leads which they can't discuss right now. They are counting on identification of the men in the video to help solve the crime.

Authorities say they are looking at other crimes in the city that may be linked to the same robbers.

Jackson was the brother of Gospel Tabernacle Church Bishop Wiley Jackson.
