Search crews are looking for a Villa Rica man who was last seen at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.
Friends say Nicholas Bower, 28, went to Talladega with his girlfriend, Jennifer Boesch, and friends from his work at Fastenal in Atlanta. They spent Saturday night at the South Park campground.
Jennifer Boesch says she went to sleep in the cab of this truck leaving Nick and several friends sitting by the campfire. Jennifer says when she came outside, he was gone.
"At 12:30, I woke someone else up and we starting walking around asking if anybody had any information or knew where he was and no one had seen or heard from him," Boesch said.
Jennifer says her group spent Sunday searching for Nicholas instead of attending the race.
Local authorities began searching for him Monday. The Talladega Superspeedway was closed to media as K-9 teams and deputies searched the grounds. The family later said that officials completed that search.
Searchers are now focusing on area waterways, including a rain-swollen creek and the reservoir it dumps into.
"They have divers and boats in the creek. They've got boats with SONAR and they're really just focusing on the creek and the reservoir right now," said Bridget Chambers, Nicholas' sister.
Chambers and her mother Donna flew in from Indianapolis to join in the search for Nicholas.
"This is not like him at all we're very close we moved down here from Indiana a couple of years ago we just bought a house together," Boesch said
The people close to Nicholas Bower say they're exhausted and hope going public will result in his being found. His mother, who is deaf, pleaded for help.
"I hope that people can help and help them find him as soon as possible please help," his mother said.
A family said that the search will continue in the waterways on Thursday. A sheriff's official said there is no direct knowledge that he is in the waterways, but they have to eliminate the possibility.
Bower is 6-feet-5 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with jeans, black sneakers and a black hat.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Talladega County Sheriff's Office at 256-362-6117.
