A suspected drunk driver from Pontiac leads police on a chase through the city of Troy and when she is pulled over officers found four children in the backseat of her sedan.
Officers attempted to stop 33-year-old Shemika Allen early Thursday morning after they witnessed her speeding on I-75 near Coolidge while weaving in and out of traffic.
The officers stopped the vehicle near Wattles Road and as officers began approaching the Chevrolet Malibu, they say Allen took off.
Eventually four Troy police cars boxed in the vehicle and forced it to stop some six miles down the road. Allen was arrested and officers determined her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
She now faces several charges of Operating while Intoxicated, Fleeing and Eluding and Operating while Intoxicated with Child Less than 16-years-old in Vehicle. She also has an outstanding warrant from a previous drunk driving arrest.
Bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety bond.
