Public park, light rail part of Westshore proposal

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

What's next for Westshore Boulevard? We should get a sneak peak Wednesday at a major facelift plan.

The Westshore Alliance business group will present its first master plan to the county commission. They want to make the district more "people friendly."

That would mean adding trees, sidewalks and bike paths. The vision also included pedestrian bridges connecting malls and hotels – and a light rail train.

They also want to put a public park right next to the International Plaza. USF's school of architecture came up with some renderings.

The upgrades could cost up to $15 million and construction could start in about a year.
