Power outages reported as storms hit Bay area

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A strong line of thunderstorms moved through the Tampa area Tuesday morning, leaving thousands without power and closing down some roads.

The worst of the storms were gone by 9 a.m., but it caused several accidents during the morning commute.

Many streets in South Tampa were flooded, including parts of Bayshore. For a brief period, police closed Bayshore at Bay to Bay, but it has since been reopened.

Thousands in Hillsborough, Polk and Pasco were reporting power outages early in the morning.
