Now that the space shuttle fleet is retired, Florida is betting the next big thing out the Kennedy Space Center is space tourism. Lawmakers have proposed spending $1.5 million dollars for promotion and marketing in this year's budget. Here's the exact language:
"$1,500,000 in recurring funds from the State Economic Enhancement and Development Trust Fund shall be used for marketing and promotion of the space tourism industry in the State of Florida. Funds may also be used to support marketing and promotion initiatives undertaken by businesses engaged in or relating to the space tourism industry in the State of Florida, which shall include but not be limited to Spaceflight entities as defined in section331.501, Florida Statutes, and entities related to launch and landing sites or launch and landing facilities."
