Car crashes by teen drivers are the No. 1 killer of teens in America today.
In an effort to raise awareness for teen safe driving and decrease the number of injuries and deaths in the Tampa Bay Area, More Health, a non-profit organization, has partnered with the Allstate Foundation and 93.3 FLZ to launch the "Focus on the Road" campaign.
High schools from six different counties entered the contest; students took the pledge to not text and drive.
The results are in and Fivay High School won first prize. Pinellas Park High came in second. Fivay was presented with $1,500 and Pinellas Park $1,000.
Administrators at Fivay say the money will be used for driver's education and Pinellas Park will use it for "Live Free" club.
