Local residents return from Boston

Posted: Updated:

Atlantans visiting Boston were among the folks ordered to take cover when the manhunt for the marathon bombing suspects was active. Some of those local residents returned home on Friday to find out that the second suspect had been captured.

"We were watching it on a plane as everything kind of developed, so there was a little bit of applause when they showed on the screen he had been bought into custody," said Matt Bryant.

Bryant says he was in Boston for his job. Other passengers described a ghost town, especially in Watertown, which was under lockdown most of the day.

"There was like a ghost town. Nobody was out and about, so it just kind of seemed kind of eerie," said one man.

Gregory Scarborough and his wife came from Boston to visit family in Atlanta, but missed their first flight.

"I'm really glad they caught him. We were inside, we changed our flight because they didn't want us to leave the house," said Gregory Scarborough.

With Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's capture, there is relief in Boston and across the nation, but questions remain about what prompted the bombings in the first place.

"I'm sure they're very happy up in Boston. It was a tragic event earlier in the week. I'm sure a lot of people were hoping it would come to this conclusion. Justice hopefully will come about when everything is said and done," Bryant said.

Airline passengers gave high praise to law enforcement that brought about the arrest.
