Uncle To Suspect: 'Turn Yourself In, And Ask For Forgiveness'

Posted: Updated:

The uncle of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects made an emotional statement to the media Friday morning and pleaded for his one nephew who is still on the run to turn himself in.

Ruslan Tsarni, speaking outside his home in Montgomery Village, Md., spoke for several minutes.

When asked what he'd tell Dzhokar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspect still being sought in the Watertown, Mass., area as part of a massive manhunt, Tsarni had this to say:

"I say, 'Dzhokar, if you're alive, turn yourself in and ask for forgiveness from the victims, from the injured, and from those who left – ask forgiveness from these people. We're not requiring forgiveness in this family. He put a shame – he put a shame on this family, the Tsarnaev family. He put a shame on the entire Chechen ethnicity.'"

Tsarnaev went on to urge his nephew again to turn himself in.
