Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night when a pickup truck slammed into him from behind.
The man has been identified as Heiner Estrada, 30, and troopers have arrested that pickup truck driver, saying he was under the influence of alcohol.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Balm Riverview Road and U.S. 301 in Riverview. Troopers say the motorcyclist was stopped at a red light, and John Clinton Butler, 33, slammed into him from behind.
The impact sent Estrada into the intersection.
The white pickup dragged the motorcycle into the intersection as well, where they both collided with another truck, FHP officials said.
Troopers say Butler, who has 8 prior arrests, initially fled the area and then returned two hours later. He was arrested and is charged with DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash and driving with a suspended license.
