They are the calm voice behind a chaotic scene.
It's "National Telecommunicators Week," a time when we give thanks to all of those 911 dispatchers we call on when the world around us is falling apart.
Last year, the dispatch center in Tampa received 383,000 calls. Most of them are emergency calls, but nothing like the Boston Marathon bombings.
The manager of the dispatch center in Tampa, Tomm Wolf said they do have a plan in place if something like that happened here.
"We've trained for scenarios like that. When the Republican National Convention was in Tampa we conducted exercises like that," he said.
