LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

A Lakeland man was cited after he ran into the back of a stopped school bus, leaving several students injured.

Troopers say Ronald Szekely, 67, was driving along Main Street just after 6:30 this morning. He glanced down and did not notice the school bus stopped in front of him at Fish Hatchery Road, despite its flashing lights, and ran into the back of it.

Students from Tenoroc High School were boarding the bus at the time of the crash. Four students were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, while two others were released to their parents at the scene with minor injuries.

Szekely was not injured. Troopers cited him for careless driving.
