School bus driver denied bond in assault case

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A Hillsborough County School bus driver charged with sexual battery on a child made his first appearance before a judge Sunday morning.

Dacquiri Jermaine Crawford was denied bond by Circuit Court Judge Robert Foster.

He is facing one count of lewd and lascivious battery, one count of sexual battery on a child and one count of trespassing on school property.

According to a Tampa Police Department report the alleged crime occurred Thursday night near Blake High School along the Hillsborough River.

The victim ran home and reported the incident to his mother.

The suspect has been employed as a bus driver with the school district since April 2005. His personnel file shows no disciplinary problems during his tenure.

The district has sent Crawford a letter telling him not to report for work.

Detectives are trying to determine if there are other victims as the investigation continues.
